Welcome Boys. . .

Wearing that interlocking NY logo feels good doesn’t it?

‘Cuz it sure as hell looks good.

However,
now that the papers are signed and these pups have had a chance to
sniff around the house a bit, it’s time to get back to business and ask
the big questions still on mind of Yankee fans [...or just me]:

1.
Will Manny ever cease to be a topic of discussion during the off-season
or near the trade deadline? Seriously, let me know if that’s possible.

2.
Will Boston give up their attempts to make bigger signings than us
already? Even if we throw aside the whole debate about which team is
better, it’s pure fact that our bank account is bigger and players,
whether they admit it or not, all want to be Yankees.

3. Will the Yanks empty said bank account? With all this talk surrounding Manny and Teixeira [doubt either will be in NY anytime soon but w/e] I’m wondering if the Yankees have ever heard of a budget.. or the phrase “insufficient funds” for that matter. Then again, it must be pure joy to be able to sign checks with that many zeros on them.

4.
Will the lineup have more than one guy under the age of 30 on Opening Day?
I’m not sure, but this veteran situation seems oddly familiar… guess
that whole youth movement died, and I’m thinking it’ll be buried if
Leche gets shipped off.

And last, and most importantly…

5. Will CC wear a uniform that fits him? CC: You’re young, but not that young. The baggy look can barely be pulled off by teenage boys.

Yesterday evening we received this surprising statement from Red Sox owner John Henry:

“We met with Mr. Teixeira and were very much impressed with him. After hearing about his other offers, however, it seems clear that we are not going to be a factor.”

whaddya think a that, V? :)

Me thinks: haha! I’m happy ’bout that.. we don’t need the Red Sox getting more big names than us. We may have not won a WS since 2000, but the day that the Red Sox spend more or get more A-listers than the Yanks during the off-season is the day we should be worried..

Sorry – but NOT all players want to be Yankees! Dustin Pedroia is a great example and YES he is an A-lister. When will the Yankees learn that MONEY does not make a team? The 2004 Red Sox – a self-described group of idiots and cowboys – proved that. You need heart and soul, in addition to a pay check, to win games. That is lacking on the Yankees and until they find that, the Red Sox have nothing to worry about.

Indeed, you’re right about everything you’ve said, but I figure since the Yanks didn’t even make the postseason in ’08 the money thing was the only thing I could use to make fun of the Red Sox.. which I just can’t help but do. But, yes, as you said,it does take much more than A-listers to win. Tampa Bay proved that with a team salary a hell of a lot lower than that of the Yanks or Red Sox..

Well, I’ll just jump in and say that if the Yanks don’t get Teixeira I hope he goes to the Nationals – far, far away. That picture of CC and AJ was sweet. Call me crazy, but I have a good feeling about them. And no, I don’t think the Manny rumors will die down any time soon.

It doesn’t look good – it looks absolutely beautiful. I think Sheets will look good in the pinstripes too.
And no, Manny will never cease being a hot topic as long as he continues the great mystery of his dual personality – that of a selfish man-child, suddenly switching to a great MVP-caliber player, and back again.

Jane – Ha, yeah, Nationals would be a greeaatt destination for him. I’m having a good feeling about them too. Hope they live up to our high hopes.
Neal – LoL, like your characterization of Manny. Spot on.

THAT is an AWESOME caption and photo and well worth a good laugh. You think Manny is getting too much press now? Imagine how tough it is living in the NL West and getting more than enough of this cat. Please Yankees sign him and make sure the outfield walls in the new digs opens for any possible bathroom breaks.

Tom – Thanxx.. and despite his talent with a bat, I really do not want to see Manny in a Yankee uniform. If the Yanks sign him, I’ll regrettably have to live with it.. but Manny better be prepared to give up those luxurious perks he’s given himself in the past, such as a bathroom break in the outfield.. which makes me wonder.. how will the guy act if put on the Yanks, having to obey rules that he’s actually no exception to? Probably be the demise of “Manny being Manny”.
V – [F4Td]

wow how do you really feel about Manny, V? lol
hey it’s a real possibility if the Yankees don’t acquire Teixeira that Manny could be a Bomber.. and besides, if he can put up the numbers then it might be okay.. i’m hoping that the Yankees get Teixeira, but so far they don’t seem to be pressing the issue
